Movies in the Park Presents

Hook on a 3-story film screen. The event is hosted by Downtown Grand Rapids Inc.and Friends of Grand Rapids Parks.

We also will announce the Voters' Choice film that will complete the double feature with The Lost Boys on August 21.

Event highlights include:

4:00 PM – Mini-skate park opens for skateboarding organized by AGA Nation.

6:00 PM - Additional pre-movie entertainment begins

  • Live performance by DJ A.B.
  • Mini-hoop basketball hosted by Grand Rapids Drive.
  • Costume contest for best pirate, lost boys, Tinkerbell or Peter Pan.
  • Giant yard games provided by the Grand Rapids Children's Museum
  • Drawings for Founders Brewing Co. gift card and UICA prize
  • Food vendors include Daddy Pete’s BBQ, Gettin’ Fresh, Love’s Ice Cream, Go Nuts, Dorothy and Tony’s Gourmet Kettle Corn, Topper’s Pizza and Ferris Coffee.

Ah-Nab-Awen Park. West bank of the Grand River. Adjacent to Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum. Downtown Grand Rapids.

Movie Night Tips

  • The park fills up fast, so get there early for the best seats.
  • Costumes are encouraged.
  • Nothing beats an ice cold one on a warm summer night. If you’d like to partake, be sure to bring your own beer or wine and picture ID.
  • Bike parking is provided by the Greater Grand Rapids Bicycle Coalition.
  • While packing up, you might as well make it a picnic in the park. If you forget food at home, vendors will have snacks for purchase.
  • You’ll be outside for a few hours, so get comfy. We suggest bringing a blanket or chairs to sit on. Blankets up front. Chairs in the back.
  • Bring bug spray, especially if you intend to sit near the river.
  • You may love your ringtone, but that doesn’t mean everyone else does. Please silence your phones.
  • If you need to talk during the movie, please keep your voices low.
  • You are welcome to smoke, but please stay on the edges of the park.
